Event Overview
The Charlevoix Junior Golf program is dedicated to developing young players' golf skills while instilling values such as discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The program offers a range of opportunities including YOC (Youth On Course) funded golf rounds, golf camp scholarships, and skill-based competitions. One highlight of the season is the "Parent's Scramble Night," where junior golfers and parents participate in a fun and competitive event.
Beyond golf skills, the program emphasizes personal growth through activities like skill testing, "Good Shot" tickets for outstanding shots, and events like Parent’s Night, where families can participate alongside their juniors. Local professionals and volunteers serve as mentors, guiding over 70 young players across three beautiful courses in the area. Fundraising efforts, such as the "Hickory Hundred" and the "Youth Golf Fundraiser" conducted in Charlevoix each year ensure that the program remains accessible and impactful for all participants.
Beginning in 2025, Charlevoix County Junior Golf will be partnering with First Tee of Northern Michigan. This partnership will provide additional instructors that will lead skill schools using the First Tee curriculum. Skill schools teach the basic fundamentals including grip, stance, full and partial swing.
